Am currently having an online conversation PTI-style. No conversation lasts more than about 3 exchanges back and forth, and then, quick, move on to a new topic. I think I love it. It's great for saving time, since online catching up really does take awhile. And it also has a nice side effect of eliminating the "I sort of want to talk about this, but the other person really doesn't want to hear about it, so I won't" problem. I mean, if random Midwestern columnists with whom I have virtually nothing in common can keep me totally entertained with nothing more than the utter banalities of their life, surely nothing any friend wants to say to me is ever too boring to hear.
